Cabanne und Ark gehören mit Sicherheit zu Frankreichs herausragendsten Minimalisten und kaum einer verbindet so konsequent Samplehouse und Funk wie diese beiden. Auf der neuen Perlon, einem Label, auf das die beiden brilliant passen, weil es hier immer wieder um Beats und Basslines geht, beginnt Cabanne auf der A-Seite mit "Bagne", einem Track, in dem jeder Beatsound irgendwie losgelöst aus der Gesamtstruktur herausgeschält wirkt, um so dem Groove eine Intensität zu geben, die fast unwirklich erscheint. Abstrakt bis über beide Ohren, aber auf richtiger Lautstärke extrem kickend. Die beiden Ark Tracks "Knochenmark" und "Tomatenmark" sind dann von den Sounds viel überquellender und rocken mit noch pappigerer Lässigkeit einen ganzen Spielzeugladen voller Sounds und Ideen in einen nahtlos pumpenden Anschlag auf die Realität.

Three strictly minimal tech house cuts set to rock a cabanon near you. The vibe favored by French uprising talents such as Ark and Cabanne is definitely one that blends happily with Perlon's own. Funny, here, that despite many fax interferences, twisted effects and subliminal calls to the bouncier parts of the brain, Ark is topped at his game by Cabanne and its barer than bare Bagne. Guyana never was better than this. |
