Les 2 albums de remixes du catalogue Blood & Fire, "Select Cuts vol 1 & 2" n'ont à priori pas l'air terribles. En effet, aucune bande master n'est disponible, et chacun des remixes effectués s'est fait à partir du morceau CD. Il s'agit donc de "versions", de "dubs" de vieux riddims, et dans ce sens, la plupart des remixeurs s'en sortent plutôt pas mal et rendent un fier hommage à nos ancètres les dubois (dubiens? dubais?). Mr Scruff reste fidèle à l'esprit du track d'origine lui aussi et, une fois n'est pas coutume, nous gratifie d'un dub des plus plaisants.

Difficile de reconnaitre l'original, puisqu'ici le "Killer" des oubliés Rare, sombre chanson pop façon Portishead/Lamb/etc., se fait complètement repeindre la facade par notre Scruff préféré: un coup de pinceau midtempo galopant, une ambiance rock-asian-trançouille assez improbable, la majorité des voix à la poubelle... mais en même temps n'est-ce pas là l'idée même du remix: refaire un tout nouveau track avec quelques éléments de l'original et non pas juste rajouter un beat? À méditer...
