Keith Hudson était un grand et innovateur producteur et chanteur jamaïcain. "Pick a dub" fut le premier album de dub sorti en Angleterre (en 1974), Hudson conduit ici sa plus excitante expérience d'instantané brut, déconstruisant ses meilleurs ryhtmes au studio de Harry J., sur des instrumentaux des frères Barrett (la section rythmique des Wailers) et le groupe Soul Syndicate, avec les voix de Horace andy, Big Youth et Hudson lui-même. Ça, c'ets vraiment du 'dub from the roots', dévêtu, ramené à son essence même, des son de batterie bizarres, des basses profondes, des instruments phasés et/ou joués...
