Celui-la à l'époque était double. Tout tient sur un seul CD, et, à la limite, il y en a un peu trop. Une grande partie des musiciens de James Brown, les JB's, rejoignent Funkadelic : Bootsy Collins, Catfish Collins, Chicken Gunnels, Rob McCollough et Frankie Waddy. Eddie Hazel, Tiki Fulwood et Billy Bass quitteront le groupe dès le début de la tournée qui suivra. Le disque est donc un vaste terrain d'expérimentation vers des styles musicaux nouveaux, les paroles étant axées sur les problèmes de l'Amérique. "That was my girl" et "We hurt too" sont plutôt ratés mais par conséquent amusants. "A joyful process" est un mélange vraiment funky d'orgue énervée et de guitare wah-wah. "Philmore" mélange habilement les expériences de Funkadelic et la discipline des JB's. "Loose booty", "Pussy", "America eats its young", "Biological speculation", "Balance" (avec Bootsy au chant), et "Miss Lucifer's love" rentrent plus dans la catégorie P-funk essentiel. Donc :
