Sans Eddie Hazel, le son est beaucoup plus strict, clean et moins intéressant, mais cela permet à Bernie Worrell (orgue) d'exprimer tout son talent. Changement de direction, moins d'acides, plus de Rhythm & Blues, les chansons sont excellentes mais on n'entend plus trop de moteur d'avion (par exemple) dans la musique. "Cosmic slop" reste un classique immédiat indispensable en concert, et ce disque marque les débuts d'un longue collaboration avec Pedro Bell, dont les pochettes dramatisent formidablement l'humour dérangé de Clinton.
